After hard winter, Oregon snowpack rebounds

SNOWBOARDER, THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE BEST SEASONS OUT ON MOUNT HOOD. JENNY: AS KOHR HARLAN SHOWS US, NOW IS THE TIME TO GET OUT AND ENJOY IT. KOHR: TWO AND A HALF FEET OF SNOW IN THE LAST TWO DAYS WITH PLENTY MORE IN THE FORECAST. MEADOWS SAYS ALL THE SNOW AND SKIER VISITS COMBINED WILL LIKELY MAKE THIS ONE OF THE TOP 5 SKI SEASONS HERE SINCE THEY’VE BEEN OPEN. THERE ARE NOTHING BUT SMILES FOR THE FIRST GROUP OF STORM RIDERS LOADING ON TO THE MOUNT HOOD EXPRESS CHAIR JUST AS IT OPENED THIS MORNING. THIS IS IT. THIS IS A GREAT DAY TO BE SKIING. KOHR: CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? THIS IS PHENOMENAL. KOHR: SNOW HAS BEEN PILING UP HERE FASTER THAN THEY CAN SHOVEL IT AWAY. AT MEADOWS, THEY SAID IT’S 12 FEET AT THE LODGE. DISCOUNTED SPRING SKI PASSES BUT DON’T EXPECT ANY SPRING SKIING CONDITIONS. 50 MORE DAYS OF OPERATIONS. THINGS COULDN’T BE BETTER FOR OPERATORS OR SKIERS. EVERY MONTH HAS STARTED OUT GANGBUSTERS. LOOK AT DECEMBER, A GREAT POWDER MONTH. THIS HAS BEEN THE YEAR OF THE POWDER AT MOUNT HOOD MEADOWS. KOHR: IT’S HARD TO IMAGINE SPRING SKIING WHEN SO MUCH SNOW IS FALLING, BUT IT’S A GOOD PROBLEM TO HAVE. ONCE THE SUN DOES BREAK THROUGH, IT’LL BE SHINING DOWN ON AN EPIC BLANKET OF DRY POWDERY SNOW THAT’S FALLEN ON MT. HOOD.
